Written on heavy cream stationery. The Dawnscorn sigil is embossed at the top. The handwriting is exceptionally precise. There is, again, a small scorch mark in the lower left corner.

Sylv,

I find the pronunciation problem familiar โ€” I have been going by Aereth for long enough that people occasionally forget it is a nickname and not my name. You have my sympathy and my full commitment to Sylv, without further comment or attempt.

The void offer is noted and, I confess, reluctantly declined โ€” tempting though it may be. My cousin will be dealt with at my preferred pace, which is: correctly, and when I choose. He should have time to understand what is coming. It is the least I can do for him.

Krikzix has been informed that your Voidling attempted to devour this letter and has declared this extremely respectable. Incorrigible.

As for the Silvermoon guards โ€” I haven't spoken to one in decades, and that's unlikely to change.

But enough of such dreary talk. Tell me, how do you find our fair city?

Warmly,

Aereth Mistress of House Dawnscorn

Sylv,

The void offer is declined, reluctantly. Tempting though it may be I prefer thoroughness to efficiency where my cousin is concerned. He should have time to understand what is coming. It's the least I can do for him.

Krikzix says your Voidling's attempt to devour the letter is "extremely respectable." Incorrigible.

I haven't spoken to a Silvermoon guard in decades, and that's unlikely to change.

But enough of such dreary talk. Tell me, how do you find our fair city?

Correspondence โ€” An Introduction

To whoever receives this โ€”

I saw your notice and thought โ€” well, why not. I have been meaning to write to someone outside my usual circles, and my usual circles have become, if I am being candid, somewhat predictable. One can only attend so many functions before the functions begin to blur at the edges.

I am Aereth. I live in the Court of the Sun, in a townhouse I spent some years reclaiming and intend to spend rather more years making worth having reclaimed. Most of my days at the moment involve correspondence of the administrative variety โ€” the kind that requires patience and a very good memory, both of which I have in unfair quantities. I also keep the ancestral records of my House, which is either a noble calling or a reason I spend too much time alone with old paper depending on how you look at it.

My imp Krikzix stole this letter twice while I was writing it. I don't mention this as a complaint โ€” it is simply accurate, and I prefer accuracy.

What do you write about? I find I am easier in letters than in conversation. There is something about the pace of it that suits me.

Warmly,

Aereth Mistress of House Dawnscorn

I am Aereth โ€” I live in the Court of the Sun, keep old records, and am conducting a very patient disagreement with a cousin over something he will eventually have to give back. The usual.

My imp stole this letter twice while I was writing it. I mention this only so you understand the delay.

What do you write about?

โ€” Aereth, Mistress of House Dawnscorn
