Written on heavy cream stationery. The Dawnscorn sigil is embossed at the top. The handwriting is exceptionally precise. There is a small scorch mark in the lower left corner of the page that has been carefully ignored.
To whoever receives this —
I saw your notice and thought — well, why not. I have been meaning to write to someone outside my usual circles, and my usual circles have become, if I am being candid, somewhat predictable. One can only attend so many functions before the functions begin to blur at the edges.
I am Aereth. I live in the Court of the Sun, in a townhouse I spent some years reclaiming and intend to spend rather more years making worth having reclaimed. Most of my days at the moment involve correspondence of the administrative variety — the kind that requires patience and a very good memory, both of which I have in unfair quantities. I also keep the ancestral records of my House, which is either a noble calling or a reason I spend too much time alone with old paper depending on how you look at it.
My imp Krikzix stole this letter twice while I was writing it. I don't mention this as a complaint — it is simply accurate, and I prefer accuracy.
What do you write about? I find I am easier in letters than in conversation. There is something about the pace of it that suits me.
Warmly,
Aereth Mistress of House Dawnscorn

Subject: Re: pen pals
I saw your notice and thought, why not. My usual circles have gotten predictable.
I am Aereth — I live in the Court of the Sun, keep old records, and am conducting a very patient disagreement with a cousin over something he will eventually have to give back. The usual.
My imp stole this letter twice while I was writing it. I mention this only so you understand the delay.
What do you write about?
